CAT response services: Powerful weekend storm to bring snow, rain and wind to the Northeast

March 11, 2022 - News

As the country plans to spring forward this weekend, the weather forecast has another plan.

A significant storm and bomb cyclone, which is essentially a winter hurricane, could potentially bring rain and severe thunderstorms, high winds, snow and a rapid freeze-up to the central and eastern U.S.

Snow could fall from eastern Oklahoma to western portions of Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee, and even northern parts of Mississippi and Alabama. Much heavier snow is likely farther to the east, where blizzard conditions are even possible. Much colder air will spread across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Thunderstorms capable of damaging wind, isolated hail and a few tornados are possible across parts of the Southeast and Carolinas.
