CAT response services: Record rainfall floods Dallas-Fort Worth area

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex was hit by a slow-moving thunderstorm late Sunday night into Monday, resulting in three months worth of rainfall pounding the area. Some parts picked up more than 15 inches of rain; Dallas sees 8 inches of rain total during an average summer.

submerged roadways and flooded businesses and homes, and tens of thousands were without power for a time on Monday. Based on preliminary damage assessments in the area, a state of disaster was declared in Dallas County Monday evening.

This comes after the Dallas area faced an exceptional drought, the highest category assigned by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
